Many people ask me this question:Is chinese astrology really accurate? As an astrologer,it is likely that I will say yes. If I said no,I would be putting myself out of business. But to tell you the truth, astrology is accurate only up to a certain degree. It is still up to the individual to change his/her luck. When I first started out in my astrology journey,I always felt that astrology is very accurate.

I felt that whatever I said to my clients was the final verdict of their lives. If I said it was good,it was going to be good. If I said it was bad, then they are going to have bad luck in the periods I mentioned. This belief was fixed in my mind, until I came across 2 clients who changed my thinking forever. Let me share their stories with you,so that you understand that ultimately, you can still create good luck, despite whatever your astrologer tells you.

The first story is about a 68 year old lady. This lady has 3 daughters and a son. She came to ask me about her childrens’ luck cycle. After analysing her childrens’ 8 characters,I offered to analyse hers for free. She agreed.

From her 8 characters and luck pillars, I found out that she was going through a challenging period. All the elements were unfavorable to her. There was too much water and no fire. Water is unfavorable to her while fire and wood are her favorable elements. She was going through 5 years of water in her luck pillar.

Basing on my experience, there were cases with a similar scenario like hers, but these people were either down with illness or their luck cycle was so bad that no matter what decision they made,it was the wrong decision. As she was talking to me,I didn’t feel that her luck was down. She seemed very jovial and happy with life.

I told her that that period of time was quite challenging for her, but to me, it seemed that she was doing well. I shared with her my experience with other clients who had similar astrological results as her, and that those clients went through really tough times.

“What you said is true, this period,it has been very challenging for me. No matter what, I’m grateful that I’m healthy enough to be able to move around freely, and that my children are doing well.” She replied.

I went on to advice her on how to enhance her luck cycle by boosting the effect of fire in her daily life. Here’s her reply…”Hey, I love hot and spicy food. I have a dog at home and during this period of time, I don’t know why I keep wearing red clothes.”

It was something new to me. Basing on experience, when one’s luck is down, he/she will always make lousy decisions or boost his/her unfavorable elements through daily activities. To put it simply, he/she will do things which brings more bad luck. I wondered what else did this lady do. Was she a very religious person?

“I’m a free thinker.I don’t believe in any religion. I only believe in doing good to others. If I am able to give and to be generous to those in need, to sow good seeds,I believe that no matter how bad my luck may be, I will still survive. There are so many things to be happy about in life.”

Now, let’s move on to the next story…

This story is about a relative of mine. He is someone who is quite close to me. He came to consult me because he felt that his luck was really down. He wanted to know if I was able to advise him on how to enhance and improve his luck cycle. Before I analysed his 8 characters, I realised that he was indeed going through a tough period.

He went for an eye operation, but it wasn’t very successful. He wanted to lodge a complain against the doctor because the doctor didn’t do a good job. There were other problems with his family life as well. His wife and children were not happy with him because of his demanding attitude.

On hearing his story, you probably would have sympathised with him. You would have thought that the whole world seemed to be against him. Or I should say I thought so,until I checked out his 8 characters and luck pillars.

After checking out his luck pillars and 8 characters, I discovered that he had 20 years of good luck. His favorable element is Metal and he was going through 20 years of Metal in his luck pillars. I was quite surprised as according to what he said, it would seem that he was going through a very bad patch.

I thought I made a mistake in working out his 8 characters and luck pillars. I checked and double checked, but there was no mistake. He was indeed going through 20 years of good luck. But why was he unhappy? Why was he complaining so much? Why did so many “bad things” happen to him?

I realised that he liked to complain about people and things. He was always right. No one was right. Everyone did him wrong. There was nothing or no one to be grateful for. Sometimes,he would get into quarrels with shopkeepers or waiters. When driving on the road, he would start scolding other drivers, if they obstructed his way, whether intentionally or unintentionally.

So what’s the conclusion here?

The conclusion is that astrology can be overwritten. No matter what your astrologer tells you, you can still change it. Whether it is good luck or bad luck,it still can be changed.I urge you to only change bad luck into good luck and not vice versa. Don’t be like my relative. And yes, the missing ingredient is your attitude towards life and towards others. Are you a blessing to others?

This missing ingredient can override everything your astrologer tells you. Hope you enjoyed this article.

Chinese astrology existed ever since the Qin dynasty when astrologists would gaze and analyze the skies for omens in order to predict what would happen to the country. Now people from all over the world are interested in the Chinese zodiac and have checked what their Chinese horoscopes would be, just as they would with the Western horoscopes. The zodiac is a twelve year cycle and each year is named after the twelve animals, the dog, rabbit, horse, ox, rat, monkey, rooster, boar, dragon, tiger, sheep, and snake. A person’s destiny and fortune can be based through the position of the planets depending on the day he or she was born. Chinese astrology is still being done even in modern Chinese society even to the point of scheduling the births of their children in order for them to be born under a certain zodiac. In Chinese astrology, a person’s traits, character, success and happiness can be determined through his or her zodiac. There is more to a person’s horoscope than the animal of his year. Chinese horoscopes also base its predictions on the five elements depending on which planet the person was born under. Earth, Fire, Metal, Wood and Water correspond to the planets Saturn, Mars, Venus, Jupiter, and Mercury. These make up Yin and Yang and determine the characteristics of the twelve animal signs. For example, a person who is a Tiger (its fixed element is Wood), he or she is unpredictable, rebellious, powerful, passionate, daring, and impulsive. But Chinese astrology, aside from basing the zodiacs on the person’s birth year, also determines the characteristics and traits of a person through the months (inner animals) and the hours (secret animals). Though a person is a Tiger because he or she is born in the year of the Tiger, he or she could be a sheep internally and an ox secretively. There are many other factors that affect the person’s zodiac, such as which trine or groups of three do the animals belong to depending on their similarity in characteristics.

Chinese horoscopes are ways in which people assess you as a person or how you asses yourself and your personality. Through this, you’ll be able to determine what will happen to your happiness, successes, and fortune in the future. Even in the present society Chinese astrology is still being looked into. The Beijing Olympics were thought to be a way to celebrate the year 2008 as a lucky year for China, but were astounded when all sorts of calamities happened before the Olympics’ opening last August 8, 2008.

Other countries have also consulted Chinese horoscopes in determining what is to happen on a certain day. Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean and Thai zodiacs all base theirs from the Chinese with minor differences such as the names/labels of their animals and the replacement with different animals. The influence of the Chinese to many cultures around the world is so great that even Chinese horoscopes are being consulted and Chinese astrology is still depended on in Chinese communities around the world.

Astrology studies the celestial bodies affects on humanity. In particular human fate, destiny, and personality were described by the celestial influences of the stars and planets. The roots of Astrology can be traced back to the first or second century BC. Many ancient cultures such as the Egyptians, Babylonians, and Chinese practiced forms of Astrology. Although, the methods of Astrological forecast differed slightly from culture to culture there still remained many fundamental similarities between them. For example Chinese Astrology which evolved convergent to western Astrology had some major differences. The most fundamental difference being the use of the moons 28 day cycle through the heavens as opposed to the Suns* 365 day cycle around the earth(*Note: The Sun does not revolve around the earth but during this period it was the popular belief). The earliest Chinese zodiac divided the lunar cycles into 4 groups each corresponding to a different season and 7 sub groups corresponding to specific lunar mansions in the season. The seasons were given animal based names for example: Spring=The Green Dragon of spring, summer=The Red Bird of Summer, fall=The White Tiger of autumn, and winter=The Black Tortoise of Winter.

Even though the use of the moon in Chinese Astrology opposed the use of the suns movement through the celestial bodies in the Babylonian and Egyptian disciplines some similarities still existed. These similarities included the use of elemental attributes assigned to the planets. For example Saturn= Earth, Mars=Fire, Mercury=Water, Venus=Metal, and Jupiter=Wood. In addition to this similarity the Chinese zodiac also has 12 signs like its western counterpart.

The western use of the sun as the foci for Astrological studies stemmed from the pre heliocentric model of the universe. In particular Egyptians may have contributed greatly to the earth centered model of the solar system. They believed a giant dung beetle pushed the sun through the sky like a giant piece of dung. This earth centered model of our solar system coincidentally seemed to arise around 1.5 BC right around the time the Egyptian and Babylonian studies of celestial objects began.

As you may suspect there are different schools of thought on Astrology. These include Moon signs, Sun Signs, and animal signs. The popular horoscope used in your local newspaper for example is probably based on your sun sign. In contrast the Indian Vedic school of thought would be more concerned with your moon sign. While the Chinese system uses animal signs in their zodiac and is based on the twelve year Jovan cycle. Some even speculate that there may be correlation between Astrological studies and the Tarot deck.

In conclusion, Astrology has substantial scientific, historical, societal, and spiritual foundations. However you look at it the influences of the planets and constellations on our lives is evident in our every day lives. From the ebbing and rising of the oceans’ tides alone it should be apparent that the immense power of the moon has profound affects on our planet. In addition based on this it would stand to reason that as humans composed mostly of water the celestial bodies (ie the Moon) do have a profound impact on our moods, personality traits, and interactions with others. Wouldn’t it?

In Chinese Astrology, the Rooster is the tenth animal sign in the Chinese Zodiac out of twelve. The twelve animal signs in the Chinese Zodiac are the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. Each one of these signs has characteristics are innate to them. For the Rooster in Chinese Astrology, they are known to be fashionable dressers and like to get things done right. Roosters can be flamboyant and like to flaunt what they got. In a professional setting, Roosters tend to be quite good managers as they dutifully tend to their tasks and underlings. Roosters are confident and can be to a fault and often fall victim to hubris. However, if one is being managed by a Rooster, they may find the Rooster to be confrontational and incessantly pecking at them to improve. The one trick these employees can do is to flatter the Rooster as they can easily be duped with flattery.

So what happens if one is not working with a Rooster but is actually in a romantic relationship with a Rooster? Of course, there are certain personalities and Chinese Zodiac signs that pair better with the Rooster and others that are short of disaster.

To illustrate, the Rooster and the Rat is a disastrous match according to Chinese Astrology. This relationship will be contentious and fraught with stress from the beginning. In fact, both signs have little patience and tolerance for the other person. Therefore Roosters and Rats should try to avoid each other as much as possible.

On the flip side, the Rooster and the Ox is a phenomenal match. The Ox is stable, reliable, and more patient which mixes well with the Rooster’s tendency towards the flamboyant. So the Ox grounds the Rooster while the Rooster adds excitement to the solid Ox. At the end of the day, both understand each other and make a great team.

Chinese Astrology is a powerful ancient art. It’s rules and ideas are quite simple for anyone to understand. The purpose of Chinese astrology is to help people achieve their goals through self awareness and continuous advances of the mind and soul. Through the study of a person’s personal Chinese horoscope, important aspects of that person’s personality and destiny can be revealed. Chinese Astrology can help you find your purpose on this planet and discover an appropriate and joyful way of life.Like western astrology, the Chinese astrology system is trying to determine a person’s health, career direction, likes and dislikes, compatibility with other people, luck attraction and a lot more. The system works based on the usual birth details (year of birth, month of birth and day of birth) and a few significant other concepts. Chinese astrology is a gift of the gods according to ancient Chinese. This ancient art has successfully guided and guarded the Chinese from ancient times through modern times. Today, this horoscope system still plays a significant role in the lives of millions of people across the world.

Let’s look at some key components of the Chinese zodiac system which is based on a twelve-year astrological cycle (aligned with the sun and moon cycle). First of all the Chinese astrology cycle is divided into five parts that represent the five magical universal elements according to the Chinese. These elements are: Metal, Earth, Fire, Wood and Water. The elements are a creation of the Chinese heavenly god who magically embedded them in Chinese Astrology and the Chinese Calendar.

Then the Chinese Horoscope cycle is enhanced with the divisions of the twelve Chinese horoscope signs that are represented by twelve carefully chosen animals. These are: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig. The animals where not selected by luck, but each one of them is highly associated with the human culture and way of life. There’s also a legend that explains in detail how the 12 animals where selected. According to the scriptures, the Chinese god of earth conducted a race between all the animals on planet earth. The first twelve animals would represent the twelve astrological signs. The twelve Chinese Horoscope signs shape the twelve-year cycle. When the year-cycle ends, a new one begins by repeating itself.

Last but not least there is the cosmic and divine force that influences the entire Chinese astrology system. This force is well known to many people as The Yin and The Yang. The Yin represents the female and the Yang represents the male. Another interpretation claims that the Ying represents the Evil and the Yang represents the Good. When properly combined the Ying and Yang produce universal harmony and eternal balance. The combination of Yin and Yang is the secret power behind the Chinese Horoscope system.

So, these are the key elements of Chinese Astrology. I will not go into further details in this article but let’s summarize:

- We have the five Chinese Astrology Elements which are universal and magical and these are: Metal, Earth, Fire, Wood and Water as ordered by the Chinese Heavenly God.
- Then we have the twelve Chinese horoscope signs which are: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig as ordered by the Chinese Earthly God.
- And lastly, we have the cosmic power named as Yin and Yang, that symbolizes the eternal harmony.

It is as simple as that to begin with. All these comprehensive ideas are carefully, strategically and magically mixed by the gods to produce the entire Chinese Astrological System. Of course, one can go deeper and deeper into the meanings of these concepts and come up with unlimited combinations and interpretations of this system, but the basic components of Chinese Astrology are summed up as described above.

Astrology is a type of divination based upon the idea that information about the future or about a person’s personality can be discovered through the examination of heavenly bodies such as stars, planets, the moon, comets etc. Astrology means the study that assumes and attempts to interpret the influence of heavenly bodies on human affairs. American Heritage Dictionary defines Astrology as the study of the positions and aspects of celestial bodies in the belief that they have an influence on the course of natural earthly occurrences and human affairs. The practice of astrology was prevalent in the ancient times too. Some of the well-known civilizations of the world used this field extensively. For example, the ancient Chinese civilization, the Egyptian civilization, the ancient Indian civilization, etc all practiced astrology at some point or the other. Arabs too practiced Astrology before the advent of Islam. The ancient Babylonians were probably the first to use Astrology. After that this science moved to countries like China and India. Greek astronomer Ptolemy was the first ever person to write a book on Astrology. He codified the sun sign astrology that we know today. Ptolemy tried to predict the positions of celestial bodies relative to each other and the earth through knowledge of their orbital motions. During his time, astrology was a part of astronomy. Later, astronomy became an exact science and Astrology remained a part of Theology. Planetary observation is the basis of Astrology.

History of Astrology is an important part of civilization and goes back to the early days of the human race. Apart from being centers of learning in medicine, Baghdad and Damascus were also known as centers of astrology and astronomy. Arabs were pioneers in astronomy before the advent of Islam. The Babylonians were the first to name the days of the week after the Sun, Moon, and planets. They were also the first to set out the twelve houses of the horoscope. Egypt was one of the most important places in the development of astrology. It is thought that some of the astrological signs of the zodiac originated in Egypt. Astrology was practiced even in the Vedic times in India. Astrology is one of the six disciplines of vedanga. The Hindus believe that human fortune or misfortune in life is due to karma, and karma is believed to be influenced by the movements of the planets. Among the Hindus, Brahmins are considered to be the best authorities on astrology. In Modern India too, astrology is extensively used to determine the future and improve life. Astrology is studied and practiced by many in India. It is regarded as vital in Indian culture. It is used to make decisions about marriage, starting of new business, and moving into a new house etc. Ancient Hindu Scriptures too gives a lot of importance to the various aspects of planetary motions and its effects on humans. Chinese astrology stresses on the five elements, metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. Even the zodiac signs used by them are also different from other forms of astrology. China was isolated from the western for a long time. That is why Chinese astrology was unknown to the western world. As Chinese astrology developed independently, a lot of difference can be seen between the western concepts of astrology and the Chinese version. But the Chinese and Indian astrologers were in touch every now and then. Therefore, these two schools have a few things in common. In spite of the geographical isolation, there are a few surprising similarities between the western and the Chinese thoughts on astrology. It can only be termed as a coincidence. Even though the science of astrology was started and developed in the east, the west was never without its share of astrology. Recently, the trend of reading the daily horoscopes have caught up the western world. Suddenly, the western world has woken up to the possibility of knowing and improving their future with the use of astrology. More and more westerners have started to believe in the possibility of getting affected by the powerful planets and stars. Western scholars have included the subject of astrology in their research. Astrology was never scrutinized and researched ever before the way it has been done over the last few years. The astrologers in India claim that it is a scientific method to predict the future. They still club this field of study within the parameters of Hinduism. They say they can prove that astrological predictions are indeed scientific. Hindus almost unanimously believe in astrological predictions. In fact, religious Hindus cannot imagine life without Astrology. More and more Indians have started to build their houses according to the principles of Vastu Shashtra. This ancient Indian tradition is also governed by astrological implications. Hindus believe that the overall prosperity and benefits of the occupants is dependant on the Vastu principles while building the house. Feng shui is one of the ancient Chinese practice of placement and arrangement of space to achieve harmony with the environment. It is also an off shoot of Chinese Astrology. This again is said to be scientific in nature.
